A fundamental part of the Aggius cultural tradition, the carpet is an ancient and never forgotten art that today the weavers of “Tessile Prof. Cannas” promote and lead with a traditional job, in the pilot centre I.S.O.L.A, near the Aggius historic centre. The plant has a good choice of Sardinian handicraft, ceramics, threads, notches, shapes and colours, the result of an authentic or revisited crafts.
Weaving is a long story passed down through generations, written with signs, symbols and colours that are since ever repeated in a perfect succession of coloured lines, contrasting weaves, shapes and archetypes whose meaning is lost in time. An  unchanged ritual, that is repeated in the composition of the warp with yarns, but that changes in the architecture of colours, designs and right imperfections of all manual arts. Art made from fast fingers but also from muscles and nerves that compete in managing the heavy wooden frames.
The raw materials are wool, linen and cotton. The colours of the Aggius tradition are red, yellow, green, purple, white, black, intense or faded colours, with strong colour contrasts: since ever  designs are repeated and reproduce ancient geometric signs or stick figures, organized in horizontal stripes (dates). The classic traditional Aggius carpet has a trimmed processing, called “old-fashioned”, but in the plant it  is also worked the carpe  so called “a pipiones or soprariccio” carpet of the most classic Sardinian tradition.
A women tradition handed down for generations with enormous dedication and passion for art.
